Rob Kitchin is a professor in the Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute and the Department of Geography.
He has published widely across the social sciences, including 33 written or edited academic books and over 200 articles, book chapters, reports and editorials. He was founder and past editor of the international journal Dialogues in Human Geography, a past editor of Progress in Human Geography and founder and past editor Social and Cultural Geography. He was the editor-in-chief of the 12 volume, International Encyclopedia of Human Geography, and an editor of two book series, Irish Society and Key Concepts in Geography. He is a regular media commentator and has given invited talks in 25 countries to over 30 disciplines. He was the 2013 recipient of the Royal Irish Academy’s Gold Medal for the Social Sciences.
He is also the author of 4 novels and 2 collections of short stories. He has had stories published in A Twist of Noir, All Due Respect, Close to the Bone, Flash Fiction Offensive, Laughter Shack, Powder Burn Flash, Shotgun Honey, and Spinetingler. He writes a regular blog concerning crime fiction.
